Dan Levinson Trans-Atlantic Saxtet Invokes the Six Brown Brothers, with Bob Wilber alto and soprano saxophones, Alex Mendham alto saxophone, Paul Lindemeyer tenor saxophone, Nik Payton tenor saxophone, Dan Levinson baritone, tenor, alto, and soprano saxophones; Vince Giordano bass saxophone. The Six Brown Brothers were a saxophone-playing vaudeville troupe during the teens and twenties, who enjoyed phenomenal popularity and helped to launch the saxophone craze that swept across America beginning around 1915. As the first saxophone ensemble to make records, they spawned dozens of imitators and inspired a generation of young musicians to take up the instrument.
