8 Sat ? University of Massachusetts Amherst Department of Music and Dance will host the 19th Annual High School Jazz Festival. The day-long event draws 25 high school big bands, combos, and vocal jazz ensembles from across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont.   Individual outstanding performance citations and Jazz In July Scholarships will also be awarded.  While not a competitive festival, one small ensemble and one big band will be selected to perform on the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall stage at 7:30 prior to Terence Blanchard’s 8 p.m. performance.
The daytime performances and clinics will take place in the Music Wing of the Fine Arts Center, and are free and open to the public.
