23rd The Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Festival
Bill Logozzo's Heartbeat Jazz Band

Bill Logozzo
|
Astute Bill Logozo says: "There's something about this music. You can see it in the audience's eyes. It's a communication that goes on and on... a communication between the players and the audience. All the barriers fall! There is a joy, a happiness, it's a wonderful place to be whether you are participating or listening."
We're with you, Bill!!
Bill was one of two musicians
honored at the festival:
"Bill Logozo has been a business leader and musician
in Connecticut for many years. After the attacks in 2001,
Bill and his band, Heartbeat Dixieland Jazz Band, looked for
ways to help out victims of the attacks. This led to
their first charity performance in April 2002 to benefit a
foundation named for Todd Ouida, who was lost in New York on
09/11. They have done several benefits since. In June,
on his own, Bill sponsored a fund-raising concert in
Middletown for The Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz
Festival. Besides his musical interests, a few years ago
Bill held a world water speed record in small boats."
|
| This band had the
combustible combination of both Sherman Kahn and
Noel Kaletsky on reeds, who were featured on Gershwin's Lady Be
Good with two ~~HOT~~ clarinets. These two are
ferocious!! Kahn on clarinet, tenor and bari sax. Kaletsky
on clarinet, alto and soprano sax. You have to be there to catch the
conflagration! ** |
 |
|
Bob Price banjo, had dedicated a vocal on Honolulu Baby
especially for Diana and Jack, who brought in candy for the band all
the way from Honolulu. Other members of the band were Fred
Vigorito cornet, Bill Sinclair piano, Greg McCurty bass, Skip Hughes trombone from
New York, and Cynthia Fabian from Southwick, Massachusetts.

|
| St. Louis Blues
was out of the ordinary, with the drummer going into the bumps
and grinds of burlesque for Skip Hughes's vocal. "I've been
told Philadelphia women got no soul, but I still hate to see the sun
go down." |
 |
Vocalist Cynthia Fabian is a vivacious performer,
and
can really put over a song, especially the spiritual Closer Walk,
and her classic Big Butter and Egg Man.
|
| Skip Hughes closed
the set with the audience singing along with a warm and moving
Wonderful World. Bill Logozzo's talent is bringing together
capable musicians who can really communicate with the audience! He
personifies our Wonderful World. |
